as some of you may know, this community was born from jester punch inc. jester punch is a website (or, will be) where you can find info on all your favourite aussie bands.....gig listings, photos, reviews, news, stuff like that. there's also a forum where you can go and talk shit with fellow aus music fans.
of course we need to launch the jester punch site in style.
and it is with this in mind that i announce.....

please come down and show your support for jester punch, even if you dont know quite what its all about yet.....

Rapid Fire Comedy -- Week 7 - Wednesday 7th September 2005 --

Man Bites God
Infectious melodic rock and sharp satirical lyrics make Man Bites God well worth inviting into your eardrums. Combining their frenetic live shows with lush studio recordings, Man Bites God are a poppy bass/guitar/drums/piano/recorder kind of thing using 3 part harmonies and dark humour to have you dancing, laughing, stopping to buy a beer and have a bit of a sit down, then dancing and laughing again.
Man Bites God’s new album, “The Popular Alternative” and upcoming national tour will be something so utterly un-missable that to miss it would not only negate the un-missable statement, it would also make you unpopular and unhappy. Go see them. Trust me.

+ MC Peter Meisel
Peter Meisel makes people laugh either through his unique sense of humour or by appearing naked in his bedroom. Peter can be seen regularly at Sydney’s Comedy Store and many other venues around Sydney.
Peter has appeared on the Midday Show, Good News Week and Mouthing Off ususally just before they got cancelled.

+ open mic section with Sarah Phillips, Miles Portek, Daniel Moore, Dan Brown and Josh Mapleston

Tune in for Loveshark on FBI!!
I'll give you all a heads up as to when the guy's will be on but it'll be evenings on 'The Bridge' 8pm-10pm, possibly next week.

Also Jay Katz and the illustrious Miss Death will be playing Loveshark sometime soon. You can catch them on FBI on Saturdays from 10am-12pm on the "Naked City" where they explore the underbelly of Sydney and whatnot.

The only Australian band that I'm very familiar with is Grinspoon. Anyone care enough to make me a mix CD?
10:31 pm
Could I add The Lucksmiths, Darren Hanlon, Golden Rough, Ruck Rover, Jodi Phillis, The Guild League, Modern Giant, Sneeze, Dead Marines, Art of Fighting, Bernie Hayes Quartet, fourplay, The Mess Hall, 1200 Techniques, Augie March, Thirsty Merc (I will allow this to be debated), Gelbison, Lazy Susan, Stella One Eleven and Genevieve Maynard to the list for starters?
10:12 pm
It kills me just to list bands, so here's a breakdown of the list, a slight extrapolation to give you a proper sense of context and history. I implore you to go ahead and check out any of these bands listed here; they're far from being wickedly underground and you should be able to grab them in some shape, way, or form.

My Milkshake Brings All The Boys To The Yard
It goes a little something like this; Ricaine, Exploding White Mice, Paradise Motel, Mnemonic Ascent, Couchblip! Collective, Thumlock, Dern Rutlidge, Crumpet, Prowla, Oneclearday, The Vitals, The Fuelers, Katalyst, Splendid, The Hive/ Baggsmen, Lazy Grey, Pod People, Damaged, NIL, Rebel Astronauts, The Necks, The Waifs, Splendid, Tumbleweed, blah blah blah. Love to love you.

It would appear that contemporary Australian bands have a penchant for the 'The' prefix.

JP Question
hey Guys,

The JP main page will have an LJ section where people will be invited to join this community, however as an added treat for surfers I hve an idea. Is it possible for meegs or me to determine, of the users in our community, which are the 5 most visited journals for, say, the preceeding week?

If you know how this, or someting similar can be done, please let me kmow...
